Bahasa Indonesia Class Materials

I’ve scanned and uploaded archives of almost all of the Bahasa Indonesia class materials I have from 2008 through April 2010.  Not included is the period during which class materials were printed on 5.5″ x 8.5″ booklets — and materials from the Ibu Corrie era (2006-2008), which I plan to upload later.

The archives come in two files: one spanning 2008 & 2009; the other is 2010, January – April.  All of the files are PDF documents which have been OCRed, so that the text is indexed and searchable.

I’m certain there are errors among my answers and notes in these workbooks.  But I may never know what they are without classmates looking over my shoulder.  If you spot something, kindly let me know.

Enjoy.

Tuamatuan Conception of the Cosmos, by Paiore.  Inspiration for Margaret Mead’s fieldwork in American Samoa.

AAA conference (be there!)

I’m excited about the AAA Annual Meeting this week. Actually, I’ve been excited about it since this spring, when I first learned that the conference is being held at the Wardman Park Marriott, just a 10 minute bike ride (6.5 without traffic laws) from home on the GW campus. (okay- my actual home is the building behind the one pictured.)

I’ve circled more sessions in my abstract book than I could ever really attend. Jen Cardew (Synthesis of Thought) is presenting in a panel on “Issues in Applied Linguistic Anthropology” (Sat., 8am-11:45). Cardew! Kroskrity! Haviland! I’ll be sure to check that one out.

If you’re planning on attending, too, get in touch with me at GoNow at sign gwu dot edu .

Literature review

Here’s a literature review I’ve been writing for a long-term research project on legal anthropology and linguistic ideologies. Enjoy.

A History of Legal Anthropology and the Next Generation of Research at the Intersection of Language, Ideology, and Power

I think that title may need some work.  Leave a comment if you have any thoughts on that.
